Loss of Malaysian Passport

Steps that should be taken when a you have lost your Malaysian passport:

On realizing that a passport has been lost, you are to immediately report
to the nearest police station. Obtain 2 copies of the Police Report containing
full details of the circumstances leading to the loss.
Report in writing to the Consular Office at the Embassy or at Consulate-General
either in Los Angeles or New York, whichever is the nearest to where you are
staying (see Annex). Do not send the Police report yet.

On being notified of the loss, the Consular Officer will send the necessary
Immigration forms to the student for completion and to return to the Consular
Officer. (please read also "Passport Renewal")

Reminder to Malaysian Passport Holders

The Malaysian Immigration authorities take a serious view on loss of Malaysian
Passports. Care should then be taken to see that it does not fall into the wrong
hands. To avoid unnecessary inconveniences, the passport should always be in safe
custody at all times. Attention is drawn to the notes especially under PERINGATAN
that appear on the inside of the back cover of the passport.
