Can I choose my Accommodation ?

You have an option of choosing the type of accommodation that you want to live in,
such in a dorm with/without meal plans.

Housing/Accommodation

You will live in a variety of settings at three/four-year colleges and universities,
depending on the regulations of the college / university and its location.
Some colleges / universities require that undergraduate students live in college or
university-approved housing, especially during their first and second years. At other colleges /
universities, you may live either on or off-campus. Off campus housing may be privately owned or
independently operated boarding houses, apartments or rooms. You can organize your own cooperative
living arrangements and jointly rent apartments or houses to reduce housing and food expenses.

Those who live on campus live in residential halls owned and operated by the college or university.
This facility, also known as dormitories or dorms, may be restricted to a single gender occupancy
or they may be coeducational.

Residential halls are generally operated under the jurisdiction of the college / university's division
of student services. Those older students usually serve as residential hall counselors and supervisors,
often in return for free living arrangements. Residential halls usually have their own student governing
organizations that set rules and procedures for the facilities. They may also provide foodservice
in dining rooms and cafeterias.

Some colleges and universities allow you to live in fraternity or sorority houses on or near the campus.
Fraternities (for male students)and sororities (for female students) are generally a part of national
associations with long histories and traditions. Most fraternity and sorority houses provide housing
for a small group of their members. Some offer dining services within their facilities.

If you choose to live on campus dormitory, you have to send a copy of the dorm contract to the
Student Advisor in Washington D.C. This isessential to verify your living allowance rate and to
facilitate payment to the university housing. If you move out of the dorm either temporarily or
permanently, you can request for living allowance adjustment by submitting Adjustment of Living
Allowance Form.

Food

Those who live on campus may eat meals in their residence hall, in campus cafeterias, or in other
campus dining rooms.

Most colleges and universities have a building - often called student unions - that provide a variety
of services, including food service in dining rooms and cafeterias. Those who live off campus manage
their own meals, but they may also eat in campus dining rooms and cafeterias. Halal meat can be purchased
at halal grocery stores normally operated by Pakistani / Indian butchers. Talk to your seniors for the
nearest source of halal meat or find out from the nearest mosques/Islamic Centers.

Note: Change of Accommodation of which fees are paid for by PETRONAS
You should seek the approval of the Student Advisor, should you need to change your accommodation of
which have been arranged and paid for by PETRONAS. Should you choose to stay off campus, you are
reminded not to enter into a lease agreement which extends beyond yourr study period.
